About This Service

Side & Rear Window Replacement, Done Properly.

Side and rear glass is its own animal. Door glass and quarter glass are tempered — they shatter completely on impact and there's no repair option, only replacement. We remove the door panel or interior trim, clean out every fragment of broken tempered glass from the door cavity (important — leftover shards damage the regulator and cause window squeaks), and install the new glass into the regulator track.

Rear windshields are bonded with urethane like the front glass, but they usually carry defroster grids, antenna leads, and third-brake-light wiring pass-throughs. All of that has to be reconnected and verified working before we leave.

If your side or rear glass was broken from a break-in, weather, or accident, your comprehensive insurance covers it the same way it covers windshield replacement.

Identify

Year, make, model, body style, and which exact piece of glass. Defroster? Antenna? Tinted from factory? We order the right one.

Strip Down

Door panel or interior trim removed. Old regulator inspected for fragment damage from broken glass.

Clean

All broken tempered glass fragments vacuumed and removed. Important step — leftover shards cause squeaks and damage the new glass over time.

Install

New glass set into the regulator (for door glass) or bonded with urethane (rear windshield). Wiring reconnected and tested.

Test + Trim

Window cycled up and down, defroster grid verified, antenna tested, trim reinstalled, door reassembled.

Rear glass is bonded (urethane-installed, like a front windshield) and usually has a defroster grid, an antenna, and sometimes wiring for the third brake light. More glass, more parts to reconnect, more time. Side glass is tempered and slots into a regulator track — different installation entirely.
No. Side and rear quarter glass are tempered, meaning they shatter completely on impact rather than cracking. Tempered glass cannot be repaired. Rear windshields are bonded glass but break in a way that almost never qualifies for repair. Replacement is the only option.
Yes. We reconnect the grid leads and test the defroster before you drive away. If the replacement glass has a slightly different grid pattern from the OEM — sometimes the case with aftermarket — we tell you up front.
Door glass: immediately — it slots into a regulator and there's no adhesive cure. Rear windshields: 60 minutes safe-drive-away on the urethane, and we'd recommend not blasting the defroster at maximum for the first day. Same precautions as a front windshield.
Yes — that's actually one of the most common reasons we replace side glass. We clean every fragment out of the door, vacuum the seat, install the new glass, and provide an insurance-ready receipt if you're filing a claim. Police report not required by us, though your insurer might want one.
